Itefaq, Sequels and Remakes – Class 8 English

Hollywood is known for its sequels, reboots, remakes, and prequels. Bollywood is very much getting on to the bandwagon. So when we got Itefaq, it was a great opportunity to explore the difference between a #Sequel and a #Remake

The definition of Sequel is “a published, broadcast, or recorded work that continues the story or develops the theme of an earlier one.” Itefaq is definitely not continuing the story of Rajesh Khanna’s story so it cannot be a Sequel.

The definition Prequel is “of a story or film containing events which precede those of an existing work”. The old Ittefaq might be considered a ‘Prequel’ but if the story is just a total copy then it is probably a ‘Remake’

The definition of Remake is “a film or piece of music that has been filmed or recorded again,” Itefaq is a remake because the same plot has been rendered with a different star cast and some modifications in the story.
